Encouraging Youth Media Literacy and Leadership

As a producer at Cascade Public Media in the Piranha Partners division, I host and facilitate workshops for the Girl Scouts of Western Washington on storytelling, animation, claymation and live video production . Offering Q+A sessions, career panels, group storytelling exercises, and hands-on experience with live production and editing, we encourage the Girls Scouts’ curiosity and pursuit of careers in media.

Digital Leadership Curriculum

We teach not only the strategies, tools, and equipment needed to create media, but also the skills necessary for navigating digital spaces safely and with compassion as digital leaders. In our Piranha Lab Digital Leadership Curriculum, I discuss topics including online advocacy, recognizing bias, and communicating with sensitivity and respect. Completing our curriculum helps Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts work toward receiving their Digital Leadership Badge.
